How to enable payment methods for admin only in Magento

One of our customers wanted to enable a payment method to display in the admin area only.

To solve this we edited the core files found in

for the Check/Money Order option as the client didn’t want to actually take payments.

First we created a back-up for the Checkmo.php file and then after the following code:

We have recently extended our Integration offering to Microsoft Dynamics NAV market place for Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Magento Integration. With the new connection bridge known as NAVeConnect you can seamlessly integrate your Microsoft Dynamics NAV with Magento eCommerce platform.The powerful features offered by Dynamics NAV and Magento can be integrated to allow the two systems to “talk to each other”. By linking the two systems, they work together to produce increased business benefits and the value and tools offered by each system are enhanced even further.

Business Challenges

eCommerce is the most modernized way of selling products. eRetail Business owners are free to use Magento as their eCommerce platform because its quickly customizable and flexible to use. On the other hand to control Back Office Operations like Purchase, Inventory Management, Accounting, etc. they use SME ERP Systems like Microsoft Dynamics NAV, though quite often we see that both the environments work separately. Here they miss out on the paybacks of an integrated automated system. Imagine getting the eCommerce data directly from your ERP system without any human interaction, it offers you numerous benefits.

How To Set the Thumbnail Size in Magento

You would expect the ability to resize thumbnails to be accessible on the admin area, but no. Again, a quick drill in the source code is required.

At the beginning I was a bit annoyed, but then I realized – this is actually a good thing! The main idea is that Magento grants you with a free hand to customize your thumbnail size for each view and situation. For instance: you want the thumb size to be different when you view your products on your front page, or in a category page – grid view. Then when on the list view – you would have much bigger thumbnails, and why not? more room for larget thumbnails on this view.

So in fact, when you assign a product photo in the back end, Magento downloads and crop only the actual image. The whole resizing deal occurs every time you load the page. So for each page you can set a different size, not only for the images’ html, but for the actual thumb.

Setting the Default Currency for a User in Magento
This won’t alter the base price in the system but it will set the start price for a user. Simply add this to the top of /template/directory/currency.phtml

$currentCurrency = $this->getCurrentCurrencyCode();

if(!isset($currentCurrency)) $currentCurrency = ‘NA’;

$currencies = array(“GBP”,”USD”,”EUR”);

if(isset($_GET['cy']))
{
if (in_array(strtoupper($_GET['cy']),$currencies)) {
if(strtoupper($_GET['cy']) != $currentCurrency)
