Posted on April 13th, 2015 | Posted by admin

In order to create a quote for a website translation project, a series of tasks and metrics are required to build the quote and determine website translation costs:

  • Common metrics used for actual translations, or as the trade calls it, Translation-editing-proofing (TEP), are typically per word.
  • Desktop publishing (formatting) costs can be calculated per hour or per page.
  • Graphic localization (text inside graphics) costs can be calculated per hour.
  • Translation companies should also include a glossary development step and project management fee.

Moving Categories to Left Column Magento

Posted on February 5th, 2015 | Posted by admin

In this post I will be showing you how to output Magento categories into the left column.

First off you will need to create the file which outputs all of the active categories, to do this create the file app/design/frontend/default/YOURTHEME/template/catalog/navigation/left-nav.phtml

Inside left-nav.phtml add this code

__(‘Categories’) ?>

The code checks if the category is active, and if it is outputs it into a list.

After you have finished the steps above you will need to define the code in your layout, to do this open this file: /public_html/app/design/frontend/default/YOURTHEME/layout/page.xml

How to Manage Product Tags in magento

Posted on January 29th, 2015 | Posted by admin

By default Magento includes the option to allow customers to tag your products. When a customer tags a certain product, the tag appears as pending and must be approved before it can show up on the product page.

Let’s add a tag to our product, approve it and see how it then shows up on the product page. To add a tag to a product, simply write the tag word in the Add Your Tags: field available on the product page and click Add Tags. We’ll add “Great” as a tag. A confirmation message will show up saying that the tag has been accepted for moderation
