Magento sample order checkout

Posted on May 28th, 2013 | Posted by admin

In my site there are products like curtains and customer can choose different color for curtains, for color we are using custom options so customer can choose different color, but there are we have requirement that customer can order sample color to look and feel before buying actual product, so how we can give sample order functionality.

Colors are not actual product so we can’t use magento checkout functionality but if customer order sample product then how we can handle this sample order?

How to remove Paypal Quick Checkout button from Magento when using Paypal.

Posted on May 24th, 2013 | Posted by admin

If you disable “guest checkout” in magento — and are using PayPal — guest check is still possible via Paypal button–it will show below the “Proceed to Checkout” button.

In order to completely remove the possibility of Guest checkout, you’ll need to alter the following:

  • copy link.phtml to link-01.phtml or whatever
  • open/edit link.phtml and delete (or comment out) everything.

Note: I use numbering for different version backups. Higher number = previous version; e.g. link-01.phtml, link-02.phtml. The reason I don’t name it something as such, “link.phtml.bak” is because your code editor will not be able to distinguish what type of file this is if you change the extension (in this case php)… so you won’t get the benefit of code highlighting.

Magento Zip+4 Tax Calculation During Checkout – Solution Restrict Length to 5 Digits

Posted on February 23rd, 2013 | Posted by admin

There is a bug in Magento that prevents Zip+4 tax codes from accurately being calculated. If a customer enters their zip code during Magento checkout in the Zip+4 format (XXXXX-XXXX) or makes a typo during entry, i.e. includes an extra or non-digit character, any applicable taxes are not calculated by Magento. This causes headaches for orders where tax should have been collected: following up with customers, running additional charges, and keeping track of these manual tax collections is an inconvenience for business owners and customers alike.

Since the solution to this problem is not well-documented by the Magento community, we have posted it below for others to refer to. Plus note that the instructions are for Magento 1.7.x (see the bottom of the post for info about applying this fix in Magento 1.4.x):

Make ‘Ship to This Address’ Default in Magento Checkout

Posted on September 22nd, 2012 | Posted by admin

This code will allow you to preselect the ’ship to address’ during your Magento checkout. Most often customers will not require shipping to multiple addresses therefore the preselected option should be automatically set to ‘Ship to this Address’.

This really should be setup as core, or at least an option in the admin section, but for the time being here’s how to make the change.

Bespoke or default template

Good practice would dictate to do this within your bespoke template.

Either Locate your template over-ride file:

app/design/frontend/< yourtheme >/< yourtheme >/template/checkout/onepage/billing.phtml
