The Tuning Primer is a shell script that allows you to review the MySQL settings and make adjustments to increase Magento database performance and stability. The script will analyze MySQL statistics and provide you with recommendations on how to fine-tune your MySQL server.

The uptime of your MySQL should be more than 48 hours for correct script work. Only in this case there will be enough information for analysis. Tuning Primer script is compatible with all versions of MySQL starting from 3.23.

How to delete an order from Magento database

Sometimes, when you have a bad order, then you might want to delete all the data connected to that bad order. So, here is how to do it.

Lets say, your order ID is 102455667

. So goto your phpmyadmin and run this SQL,

SET @increment_id = '102455667';

SELECT *
    FROM `sales_flat_quote_address_item`
    WHERE `sales_flat_quote_address_item`.`quote_address_id` IN (
        SELECT `address_id`
            FROM `sales_flat_quote_address`
            WHERE `sales_flat_quote_address`.`quote_id` IN (
            SELECT `entity_id`
                FROM `sales_flat_quote`
                WHERE `sales_flat_quote`.`reserved_order_id` = @increment_id
                )
        );

    Well, any version control system is great, at least in compare with none at all. But what’s happening with your database? Today I’ll show you how to create automated solution for backup and insertion of MySQL database into Git repository.

    Explanation and Prerequisites

    What I did was clone of existing Magento Git repository on development server, and then created cron task that dumps its current development database into local repository, commits changes, and then pushes them back to remote repository.
    Prerequisites

    First of all, I’ll explain this using our development server that runs on Linux. If you wish to follow this article, you’ll need Git, MySQL,SSH,Remote git repository (ours is at beanstalk) and crontab access on it.
