in Magento place holder image are always used when you get product URL or using Catalog_Helper_Image. But you know sometime, you don’t like this behavior and you need to be able to check if there is an image associated with the product or if the placeholder image will be used.

OK here is the solution

1
2
3
4
5
if ($_product->getSmallImage()=='no_selection' ) { //small_image is not set
// do your custom code
} else {
//display normal image?
}

Magento tip: image UploadHTTP error

There are a few possible causes including problems with mod_security.. however, if you are working behind a .htaccess/.htpasswd files to protect your site, you need to allow POST calls to go through; they’re being blocked b/c the AJAX call doesn’t know to use your cookie.

add

2
3
<LimitExcept POST>
Require valid-user
</LimitExcept>

to your .htaccess and you should be good to go.

I’ve seen some solutions out there that modify core code, some that just take a file and move it to your /app/code/local/ retaining the same directory structure, so as to just override the file. I don’t recommend either of these methods (especially the first), as with a true module you are setting up a much better environment over time for this to last. And a module allows you to ONLY override the methods you need to modify, instead of entire classes. Plus, you can easily disable the module right in the admin (Admin >> System >> Configuration >> Advanced).

Be sure you replace all of the “YOURSTUFF” with your name or company name.

I have only tested this with 1.3.2.4
Step 1:

Create the file: /app/etc/modules/YOURSTUFF_ImportMultipleImages.xml. This file tells Magento that you have this module and where it is located.

How to display Image Preview in Admin Form magento

Magento allows us to create custom form in admin panel by creating our own custom module. We can create almost any field in the admin form by creating a class that extends the base class Mage_Adminhtml_Block_Widget_Form. The _prepareForm method allows to define our form elements.
Sometimes we may need to upload a file in the adminform, the default file field doesn’t provide the image preview when we upload an image file. For this purpose we need to use image field type as shown in the below snippet

$fieldset->addField('filename', 'image', array(
'label' => Mage::helper('customform')->__('Image'),
