There are definitely better ways to keep people up-to-date on a project that is often changing than a web page or blog posts. So, for little updates, and updates about the Magento Product Import Script that I am working on, I’ve setup a Twitter account for any of you who are interested in keeping up with the latest things that I’m working on.

My Twitter page is: http://www.twitter.com/Prattski. Check it out, and stay updated!

If you haven’t seen already, I’ve also added my twitter posts to the right side bar of the blog here. Well, that’s enough for now. Time to go work on the script for a little while!

We did a migration from CRE LOADED (osCommerce clone) to Magento and we had to import all products with additional images. Every products had from 4 to 6 images which was a problem because Magento doesn’t have built-in ability to upload multiple images for products.
Our solution:

Step 1.
Save this in the file “/app/etc/modules/Inchoo_Import.xml”

lthough it is fairly simple to do, many Magento users offer encounter difficulties when attempting to use the import functionality built in to Magento. We see a fair number of inquiries about this here at the Magento Enterprise Support Desk, so we’ve decided to write a little tutorial to help you better understand and use Magento’s Import Profile.

First, let’s take a look at how to create an import file, which will include all the data we want to bring into Magento. To get the correct fields and values, we recommend exporting a product, i.e. a simple product or configurable product, through the Admin. This is done through ‘System -> Import/Export -> Profiles’.
