In my site there are products like curtains and customer can choose different color for curtains, for color we are using custom options so customer can choose different color, but there are we have requirement that customer can order sample color to look and feel before buying actual product, so how we can give sample order functionality.

Colors are not actual product so we can’t use magento checkout functionality but if customer order sample product then how we can handle this sample order?

This is another post for Magento programmer who needs to work with an extension for creating shipment for Magento order. You will need to use this when you have a module which connects Magento store with a vendor store. Basically, you need to program a script to create shipment for Magento automatically.

First, you will need to load an order using order increment id:

1
$order = Mage::getModel('sales/order')->loadByIncrementId($orderId);

I’ll be clear… Magento is not good as you could imagine. In fact sucks in so many ways.

Today i’m showing you one. There is no backend option to change the Default Sort Order in your product listing (catalog).

Lucky there is an easy solution.
The Toolbar
Look for the file toolbar.php located in:

/app/code/core/Mage/Catalog/Block/Product/List
Create the Local folder
Create the same folder structure in the local. Now the future upgrades will not affect your changes.

Should be like:

/app/code/local/Mage/Catalog/Block/Product/List
